It was definitely in the North - I never stood in the South and I remember it well (I assumed the 'x' was silent and had no idea what it meant!).

I nearly always went in the North Bank & unless my memory is playing tricks I'm sure it was there
I did go in the South Bank once or twice, usually if I arrived late (including the notorious South Bank 75 vs manu & wouldn't have been too much bothered about looking at signs that day!)

Thought this sign was in the old south bank that was replaced by Bobby Moore stand
Don't recall one in the North bank the seller states

Well, it seemed like a tunnel - you know where I mean.

When I was a nipper, at most games my feet never touched the ground going under the tunnel from the North Bank terrace to the concourse. A huge thrill then - scary as fuck now.

Out of all the games I went to I stood in the North Bank more than anywhere else As a kid getting out of the ground especially when we played the big games(London derbys,Liverpool,Man Utd)) was I suppose some would say scary by today's standards. There were always big lumps that looked out for the kids. That was all part of the day out.

Presume it was sold as part of the Upton Park jumble sale Unless Sully kept a few choice pieces back for himself

Probably the most vivid memory of my first visit as a nipper seeing that sign ;stairs under the tea bar. Remember asking my uncle what Ibrox was (I was 7) when he told me it scared the shit out of me
